PT Snicon Multipro Indonesia recently conducted a factory visit for one of our international clients as part of the SNI certification process for motor vehicle wheels (rims) intended for the Indonesian market.
The visit aimed to assess the manufacturer’s production capabilities, quality management system, manufacturing process, and technical documentation to ensure compliance with Indonesia’s mandatory product certification requirements. This assessment is an essential step before products can be certified and legally supplied to Indonesia.
Mandatory SNI Certification for Motor Vehicle Wheels in Indonesia
Under Minister of Industry Regulation (Permenperin) No. 71 of 2024, Indonesia has made SNI certification mandatory for motor vehicle wheels (rims) in Categories M, N, O, and L. The regulation applies to both locally manufactured and imported products and requires certification under a Type 5 Certification Scheme, including product testing, factory assessment, surveillance, and certification by an appointed Product Certification Body (LSPro). The regulation refers to:
- SNI 1896:2008 – Motor Vehicle Wheels (Categories M, N, and O)
- SNI 4658:2015 – Motor Vehicle Wheels (Category L)
Scope of the Factory Assessment
During the factory visit, our team carried out:
- Manufacturing process verification
- Production facility assessment
- Quality management system review
- Technical documentation verification
- Certification readiness assessment
- Coordination with the appointed certification body (LSPro)
These activities help ensure that the manufacturer is fully prepared to meet Indonesia’s mandatory SNI requirements before certification is granted.
